1) Sight reading (doesn't necessarily have to give feedback, since few of us have midi instruments)
2) Native Linux compatibility (hey, it's worth a shot.)

I don't think it's possible. I'd suggest creating something of a foundation by first listening to the intervals on your instrument. When I'm trying to learn a new interval, I first take my guitar, play the same interval over and over, sing it a couple of times, move up a bit on the neck, repeat, etc...

Suggestion: custom exercise routine.
Hi, I've been working on my ear quite consistently lately, using exercises tailored to my own needs and abilities, and I've found that it's a bit of a hassle always having to set up each exercice separately, given that I'm running through a daily routine. I know the next version of earmaster is prob...

good news for linux users, probably for mac users, too.
Hey. I recently did a full install of ubuntu 8.04, which means I had to wipe my hard drive clean. Now, I just installed wine (which has been making tremendous progress recently) and I was able to install earmaster basically without having to configure anything at all. I did have midi support install...

Well, first of all, it could take a while. You have to work at intervals pretty hard, but don't worry, eventually you will get them. You'll get them so easily you'll be stunned you ever failed to hear the difference. That said, try combining techniques. Play the intervals you're working on on your i...

I feel that earmaster isn't the right way to start learning your intervals. First, sit down at your piano and play the interval you want to learn. Then play it again, starting on a different note. Then again. Sing it as you go along. When you get a pretty good feel for it, then start testing yoursel...

http://earmaster.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=596 there you go. indeed, you need wine. I made a few terminological mistakes (concerning the terminal, for instance) when writing that howto, but it shouldn't be too hard to follow. a bit more sluggish than if you run it natively, but pretty much fully...

I've gotten a bit more accustomed to my Linux system by now, so I've also removed the killall timidity bit. Now here's a quick question for those of you who've successfully tried this: can you configure a microphone? 'fraid I can't get mine to work due to earmaster locking up when I access the micro...

Hi, I guess I'm digging up an old topic here, but I feel that it's worth being revived. Here's how to install Earmaster on Linux (works perfectly for me on Ubuntu 7.04). Note that I am very new to Linux and that I did not exactly come up with this. It's just a translation/adaptation of a French tuto...
