Sight reading module

Post by Tonto »

Product Suggestion:

Please add a "Sight Reading" module.

The module answers will be inputted via midi connection (piano keyboard, and guitar midi)

When you open the Sight Reading module, you select your instrument and the software provides the correct clefs.

The software ascends in levels difficulty. The user should also be able to select settings, notes, octave range, rhythm note values, time signature, arpeggios etc etc

I think this would be a very popular module. The main competitor in this area (Sight Reading Factory) is web based (i.s. not an app like Earmaster) and does not work with Apple Safari browser.

I welcome any other thoughts. Would this be a popular module with Earmaster users ?

You can actually do that that already using the Sight-Singing exercise with a MIDI keyboard, but of course you will only get monophonic content (i.e. one note at a time, no chords), since the exercise is made for voice. We do have plans to offer dedicated sight-reading exercises at some point.

Great idea! MIDI-based sight reading with adjustable difficulty sounds perfect. It’d definitely attract serious learners. Hope Earmaster considers this!

Your suggestion is excellent. Adding a full sight-reading module with MIDI input would greatly enhance EarMaster and fill a gap competitors haven’t nailed yet. It’d likely be very popular with users.

I also think this will be a very popular module, which could be a huge competitive advantage for EarMaster, especially among serious musicians looking to develop practical sight reading skills with MIDI instruments.

Great idea! But I wonder if Earmaster could incorporate more progress statistics for each stage? For example, after a month of sight-reading practice, the user would receive a detailed report for comparison. This would be more engaging and encourage learners to practice regularly.
