hearing the 7th dominant chord

Post by MdM »

I am really having a problem with #2 of the chord progressions--the seventh does not seem to always be audible. Is there a chance there is some kind of hardware problem, or do I just need to practice harder?

Thanks

The quality of the midi sounds in your sound card also influences how you hear the chords. It is possible that the 7th is less audible when played at certain pitches. However, more practice might also solve this problem :-)

7th dominant chord

If you absolutely can't hear the dominant 7th chord, if the sound is too unclear, than it has to be the soundcard. You should get yourself a new, quality soundcard if you want clear sound. But if just can't recognise the sound, practise harder. Eventually it will come to you. That's the case with all the new sound we experience, if we never have heard it before, it is always more difficult to recognise it.
