no multiple choice in jazz tutor chord progressions

Post by svinster »

I got earmaster to primarily to work on jazz chord progressions, but there is no multiple choice in jazz tutor chord progressions. I am not a keyboard player, but I use the standard number system to describe them, like all jazz players.
If this program cannot provide multiple choice, can you enter the standard numbers, like 1M 2m 6m 5 1 etc, via typing keyboard? Clicking the notes in the staff via mouse is way way too tedious.

This seems like a well designed program, surely something this obvious has not been omitted. If earmaster cannot do this could you recommend a program more friendly to jazz players?

thanks

Hi,

If you don't feel confident using the staff to enter a progression's scale degrees, you can simply select one of the instrument interfaces (piano, guitar, bass, etc), as they display the available degrees for each question.

To answer, start by defining the quality of the first chord, then its degree, move on to the second chord and do the same, etc. It is pretty easy, even with no knowledge of staff notation.

EarMaster is definitely the best choice to practice jazz ear training, especially as it is the only program offering swing rhythms :-)

If you think something is missing while using the program, it is always good to ask us first. EarMaster has many functions, and some of them are sometimes not too obvious. ;-)

Have fun training your ear!
