Electric guitar with EarMaster7 - tips ?

Anyone successfully using an electric guitar to provide input / answers into EM7 software ?

I would appreciate any tips, suggestions.

Do you recommend using a midi pick-up, or does a regular Hi-Z audio interface connection work ok.
