Realistic Time Frame

Post by travisesp »

I've been playing guitar for about twenty years but never worked on ear training. I can figure out some things by ear but not like i want too. what is a Realistic time frame for learning to play by ear 1 year 2 years? How long should i spend a day trying to learn? Anybody got any tips? Thanks Travis

Many agree that the best daily amount of ear training should be around 10 to 20 minutes.
How long it will take you to play by ear depends on how serious you are in your training, and of course on biological factors: some just learn faster than others.
One thing sure helps on top of ear training: try to jam a lot with other musicians, and make your sessions some sort of challenge for the ear. One leads, the other(s) follow(s) (modes, scales, etc.) :-D
