Pitch recognition

Post by sab15 »

Hi,

Is there a way to use/customize one of the exercise types like Melodic Dictation to do just simple pitch recognition for 1 note. I just want to simply try to improve my pitch recognition by drilling hearing a note and then selecting it on the piano.

Thanks a lot.

Yes it is possible (that's actually what you do in lesson 1 of Melodic Dictation in standard tutor mode).

You can use the "Customized Training" mode to set up such a lesson (1 tone pitch recognition), and decide whether you want to train relative pitch or perfect pitch by activating or not the "play tonic of the key" function when you set up the exercise.

See the FAQ for more details (under SUPPORT menu).

Hi,

When doing interval recognition I try to listen for the unknown pitch instead of focusing on the interval itself. Should I use a different approach? Thanks.
