Trying Out Software

I would like to try out the software, but I'm already depressed. For some reason, on the very first lesson, I'm consistently 100% on the ascending intervals (2nd). But, the descending I'm just not hearing. Is that really reasonable? I mean it really sounds like my computer is playing the same note twice.

Try to change the tempo (at the bottom of the screen). Maybe a slower tempo will help you hear the difference for descending intervals.

It turned out I wasn't listening for the right thing. Now, I'm stuck on Lesson 13, hearing intervals without a common note.

I know, many get stuck for a little while at that lesson, and it's quite understandable. In lessons 1-12, you were comparing tonal distances directly, but in lesson 13, you often feel that you have to transpose the intervals mentally before being able to compare them. The trick here is to get used to how each interval sounds no matter what root tone they have. Once you are mastering interval comparison without common root tone, you'll really have a poweful tool in hand for your music playing/composing/transcribing, so hang on, it's worth it!
