Instrument sounds problem

On the free trial, whatever instrument i chose for the answer input was the instrument I heard in the questions. Now that I have the software, the questions are played in whatever setting I have the piano on, even if I don't have the piano selected. I still have the free version, so I've tried to match all the settings but I have figured out why i can't get it to sound the same. Any help?

If the piano is visible then EarMaster will use the sound you have set on the piano. If the piano is hidden then EarMaster will use the sound for the string instrument you have selected.
If it doesn't work that way on your computer then please use the "Check for update" function in the Help menu to get the latest update of EarMaster.
