Hi,
In "Rythme-imitation" I would like to clap the rythme instead of using the mouse, but my clapping, when using the microphone, gets recorded consistently and quite accurately as a small step behind the notes. This does not happen when I use the mouse, with the mouse I get 100%.
I suspect the slight delay when using the microphone is due to the fact, that the sound wave has to travel a small distance before getting picked up by the microphone. Does anyone else have this problem, and can EarMaster be calibrated for this? It's so much more fun actually clapping, than pressing the mouse.
Kind regards,
Jesper

Re: Rythme-imitation - wrong timing with microphone
Hi Jesper,
In EarMaster 5 on Windows, there is a latency compensation setting in the Program Settings. The Mac version doesn't have latency.
In EarMaster 6, the latency issues should be solved automatically by EarMaster. If you still feel there is too much delay between the claps and the notation/sound, you could try to adjust the Buffer setting in EarMaster's preferences (MIDI Devices tab - bottom right). Try to decrease it as much as possible (256 or 128). If you hear cracks and clicks, set it a bit back up. The setting depends on how fast your system can work with sound.
