that when you listen to different chords descending they should start from the same note?
This is only really relevant for aug and dim, the two I'm having a bit of a problem with, especially descending. So when I've answered incorrectly and want to compare what they sound like they start from different places. I understand the logic at work, what I'm comparing is (for example) a C diminished to a C augmented. But what I need to get used to is the way these triads sound in descent, so for comparative purposes I'd like them to start at the same point.
Of course, I could just spend a bit of time at the piano then come back to earmaster... I suppose I'm just getting annoyed that the program doesn't do EVERYTHING I want it to.
your thoughts?
am i alone in thinking....

I understand what you mean, but perhaps you could make it easier to start with by identifying Major vs minor, then Major vs aug (only 5th is changed), then minor vs dim (only fifth is changed), and finally take all 4 together. I think it is important to have a feel for these chords in relation to a common bass tone.
