Hey all!:)
I've always had a strong fascination for music, I've always loved music but I've never been able to pick a tune to save my life. Now I started playing bass guitar with a couple of friends I love it! However I'm pretty inexperienced musician and I wanted to get out of my own label of being tone deaf..
So I started using earmaster - BAM I LOVE IT - however I got to excercise 13 with Intervalls without a common tone and I lost it completely.
I've tried do what the help recommends, I've tried what some people here say "connect it with a feeling.. But I don't have any feeling to minor 3rd or diminished .. because I have very little knowledge of what that practically is.
So -- I just need to know if I, with enough practice, can tell the interval difference WITHOUT hacks or should I abandon earmaster for the time being until I have more music experience?
Thanks all
~Björn

Hi Bjørn,
If you compose a little, you may try to write some short melodies (8 bars or something) with defined sets of intervals (only 4th and 5th for instance) and connect it to impressions/feelings like it is described in other posts. The difference this time is that it is linked to a melody you have written and played yourself.
Another trick is to have references from songs (as explained in the manual). like: "Uh! That's the start of the Simpsons theme...it's a Major 3rd!"
Lesson 13 is quite a big jump, so you have to hold on. It's perfectly normal you feel a bit lost at that point. In any case, don't give up. The key is consistency! Try to take the previous lessons again for a while until you guess each interval as a reflex (I know it easier said than to done )
Håber det lykkes

Tack så mycket!!:)
Thank you a lot for both the advice and encouragement... I have now actually for the first time in my life begun to experience some musical growth. I feel SOO excited!
I've been resting from earmaster since I last wrote my post and I had a rehersal with my band today and came back home very excited and nailed it perfectly.
I'm stuck on 15 now but atleast I got the "instrument" to learn now!;)
Wonderful!:D
