ok, practising the sounds using VST instruments would be great.. wouldnt feel so plastic as the MIDI sounds..
but, its maybe not possible
VST support

MIDI sound can be just as great as VST sounds.
Roughly speaking, VST and MIDI are just two different interfaces to a soft synth. The main difference is that VST allows you to program the sound from within the application. EarMaster does not support the VST interface, but there a also many great soft synths that connects through MIDI.

I may be totally wrong here, I'm learning, so I'm going out on a limb:
Am I wrong? Go aheah trash me.
I don't think this is true. I can play a whole lot more sounds with VST (on my pc sound card) than I can with MIDI (to my piano keyboard).Hans wrote:Roughly speaking, VST and MIDI are just two different interfaces to a soft synth.

False, not the main difference. Many more sounds with VST. See above. The main difference is that VST allows you to program the sound from within the application.
How much do they cost? I want to be able to use my pc sound card, and need to know the total cost of EarMaster.EarMaster does not support the VST interface, but there a also many great soft synths that connects through MIDI.
MIDI is just the for communication, midi doesn't play the sound itself. The sound is played by an instrument that recieves the MIDI information, that instrument can be a physical device (like a soundcard) or a virtual one (like vst's).Anonymous wrote: I don't think this is true. The quality of the sound is not dependant on MIDI, as I said, is just for information exchange, is the device (physical or virtual) what determines the quality of the sound.
You said that you play more sounds with vst that with MIDI, that's not true, you are using always MIDI. You can play more sounds when you route the MIDI information from your keyboard to your vst's than when you route it to your soundcard.
See aboveAnonymous wrote: False, not the main difference. Many more sounds with VST. See above.
There are free solutions that allow you to use vst's with EarMaster, I explained how to do it in this forum some time ago, check my reply in this thread:Anonymous wrote: How much do they cost? I want to be able to use my pc sound card, and need to know the total cost of EarMaster.
